The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has revealed the list of consumers who will be affected by the recent price adjustment of tarrif in Lagos State.
EKEDC disclosed the list in a post via its X handle on Sunday, responding to several requests of concerned electricity consumers over an earlier post made by the company on Thursday.
Consumers had requested to know the list of areas affected by the hike in tarrif from 66 to 225 Naira per kilowatt hour.
EKEDC had posted on Thursday: “Dear Esteemed Customers,
In our bid to improve services across all our customer strata, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) upon due considerations of DisCos tariff review applications, has approved the revised rates affecting ONLY cUstomers classified under Band A service category to N225 per kilowatt hour.
“This adjustment aligns with the cost-reflective tariff framework introduced in 2020. All other customers under Band B to E service category would not be affected by this current review of end-user tariffs.”
According to the post, the Band A feeders were categorized in three districts, namely; Islands, Lekki and Orile Districts respectively.
The Islands District, consists of Nepa 1, Poste Rmu, CSS, New Customs, Station Feeder, Ikoyi hotel, and Nepa 2 areas. Others include NTDA, Dover, Standard Chartered Bank, Kingsway, Mobolaji Johnson, and Mulliner Tower areas of the state.
The Lekki District consists of areas such as Twin Water, Wole Olateju, Prime Water View, Bashorun Okunsan, Providence, Water Corporation and Osapa.
EKEDC however listed one area under the Orile District to include Texlon only.
Recall that the Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu had recently announced that electricity tarrif was set to be increased, as he criticized an alleged waste of electricity resources by many citizens.
