NCWS recognizes Borno first lady, others for exceptional contribution

In a distinguished gathering at the biennial convention of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), some Borno State officials were honored for their exceptional dedication to advancing the status of women, girls, and youths in the region.

Representing the state’s first lady, Her Excellency, Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, Hon. Zuwaira Gambo received the Award of Excellency for her purposeful efforts in fostering development.

Notably, Gambo, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, was conferred with the prestigious Award of Life Member of NCWS, acknowledging her remarkable contributions spanning over three decades.

Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, was also recognized as a Goodwill Ambassador of NCWS for his steadfast support towards empowering women, girls, and youths at the grassroots level.

The event, attended by a strong delegation from Borno State, including Dr. Hauwa Maimusa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, highlighted the government’s commitment to gender equality and holistic development.
