Police officer’s house attacked again; neighbors urge vigilance

The home of Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Esther Ayodele, wife of former police officer and now social media activist Isaiah Ayodele, was attacked again in the early hours of December 3, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m.

The property, located at 8 Omorenijo Adeleye Street, Itele Ota, Ogun State, had previously been abandoned by Mrs. Ayodele and her children after an earlier attack, which forced them to flee the country.

In the latest incident, armed assailants invaded the premises, forcefully breaching the fence and demanding to see the owner of the house, whom they erroneously believed had returned to Nigeria. Upon realizing that the original occupants were still abroad, the attackers issued a chilling threat to return.

The house is currently occupied by a pastor and his family, who are understandably shaken by the intrusion. This marks the second attack on the property, further raising concerns about the safety of law enforcement families and activists in the country.

Neighbors have expressed alarm over the repeated attacks, calling for heightened security in the area. Many are urging the authorities to take swift action to investigate the invasion and prevent further incidents.

The first attack had occurred when Mrs. Ayodele, along with her children, was still in Nigeria. The growing threat forced them to abandon the house for their safety.

The repeated targeting of this property highlights the vulnerabilities faced by law enforcement families, particularly those associated with activism or outspoken roles like that of Mr. Ayodele, a member of Amnesty International.

Residents of the area are demanding a stronger police presence and immediate steps to secure the neighborhood. They fear that if such brazen invasions are left unchecked, more families could be at risk.

As investigations continue, many are hopeful for a resolution that ensures the safety of the pastor’s family, the Ayodele family, and the surrounding community.
